WHO SIGNED UP, AND WHO CAN STOP IT.

October in Dubai was pledges, training deals and prize money. Two surveys show how far agents have spread and how few companies can stop one quickly. The federal government is logging its own.

THE MONTH IN ONE PARAGRAPH

Dubai spent the first three weeks of October collecting commitments. Eleven companies pledged to put agentic AI into their operations, the digital economy chamber signed two training partners, and two new competitions put more than AED 2.5 million and $1 million on the table for agents. The surveys that landed at the turn of the month describe what comes after the signing. AWS and the UAE AI Office put business use of AI at 72%, up from 53% a year earlier. Dataiku found 62% of UAE CIOs estimating more than 50 agents in production, and 5% saying they could find and contain a misbehaving one within two hours. All three are T3 figures, what executives told a survey, so read them as direction. The direction is consistent: agents are spreading faster than the ability to stop them. The federal government's answer is a control tower that every federal agent must connect to and that logs what each one does. You can test your own position this week. Pick one agent and time how long it takes to switch it off everywhere it runs.

BY THE NUMBERS

Figures worth carrying into a budget conversation. The rating after each says how far it can be pushed: T1 measured, T2 research with a disclosed method, T3 surveys of intent, vendor research and announcements.

The adoption figures we rely on for the UAE and the Gulf, each with its source, date and rating, are collected in UAE AI Adoption: The Numbers.
